Standard Protocol Usage - FTP, SFTP and WebDAV


Your offsite filesystem can be accessed with ANY standard ftp or sftp client.

This includes plain old ftp.exe from the Windows command prompt. Any existing process, program, embedded system or legacy application that can transfer files over FTP can interoperate perfectly and immediately with your offsite filesystem. No special options or considerations are required.

In addition to normal FTP, your offsite filesystem can be targeted with any SCP or SFTP client. This includes the pscp.exe and psftp.exe executables distributed by the puTTY project.

Our Windows Drive Mapping software runs over SFTP, and we particularly like the graphical WinSCP program that allows simple, secure file browsing and management with the familiar two-paned drag and drop file management interface. Using cygwin or cwRsync rsync tools

SyncHaven.net accepts standard rsync data transfer over SSH. Any implementation of rsync that runs over SSH should work perfectly with your offsite filesystem offsite filesystem.

Accessing your offsite Filesystem Over WebDAV


At SyncHaven.net we run a stock, standard Apache + mod_dav service that allows you to seamlessly connect using Windows WebFolders and other publishing and collabaration features found in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.

In reality, we prefer and recommend our Windows Drive Mapping Software which we feel is more robust (and faster) than using the built-in WebDAV facilities in Windows, but if you have an existing or legacy application that runs over WebDAV you can rest assured that it will connect perfectly with your offsite filesystem.
